Handmade reproductions of Viking-era glass beads based on finds from Birka, these lampworked beads have been created using the traditional method of winding layers of molten glass around a mandrel (metal rod) and then decorating the bead with additional molten glass in contrasting colours in a variety of patterns including thin trails of glass and layered dots.
This single bead is from Grave 208, but looks almost modern in the layout of the dots and trailed lines. It measures approximately 18x10mm but will vary as each bead is individually handmade.
